How to request deletion
Two ways, both of which reach the same place:
- In the app — Profile → Privacy → “Request deletion of all data”.
- By email — send us a request from the email address on your account, so we can confirm it’s really you.
Request deletion by email
This opens an email to our privacy team with the details we need. Send it from the address registered on your account.
Email privacy@home2.appWe may ask you to confirm your identity before we act — deleting the wrong person’s account is not a mistake we can undo.
What gets deleted
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your profile and any avatar
- Messages you sent to hosts or guests
- Saved and favourited properties
- Your device push-notification tokens
- Any identity documents you uploaded
- Your listings, if you are a host and have no upcoming bookings
This is permanent. We can’t restore a deleted account or its history.
What we have to keep
Deletion doesn’t wipe everything, and we’d rather be straight with you about why:
Booking and payment records
Tax and accounting law requires us to keep transaction records, typically for six years. These are kept for that legal purpose only and are not used to contact you.
Reviews you wrote
Reviews stay published so other guests can still rely on them, but we disassociate them from your name.
Records of fraud or safety issues
Where we have to keep a record to protect other users, or to comply with a legal obligation.
How long it takes
We’ll acknowledge your request within a few days and complete it within 30 days, which is what UK GDPR, the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 require. If a booking is still running or a dispute or refund is open, we’ll finish that first and then delete — and we’ll tell you if that’s the case. Before you delete
- Upcoming trips will be cancelled under the listing’s cancellation policy, and normal refund rules apply. Consider finishing or cancelling them first.
- Hosts: you can’t delete while you have confirmed upcoming bookings. Cancel or see them out, and make sure any pending payout has landed.
- Any promotional credit is forfeited and can’t be restored or paid out.
Get a copy of your data instead
If you only want to see what we hold, you don’t have to delete anything. Email privacy@home2.app and we’ll send a machine-readable export of your account to your registered address, free, within 30 days.
